Melissa (or Mel, as everyone here calls her) first came to FDTC as a student in 2019. A few years later, when she was looking for a new job and the business was growing, things lined up perfectly. She joined the team as receptionist in 2021 and quickly became the go-to person for just about everything. From answering phones and emails to cuddling Puppy Day School pups and helping out in classes, she did it all. As the business kept growing, her role changed to Office Manager, and she also started helping shape how the place runs behind the scenes.
When she’s not at FDTC, Mel is usually out exploring. She and her husband love traveling, trying new local restaurants, visiting breweries, and hanging out at Round1, where she’s known to win a claw machine or two. At home, she enjoys makeup, baking, binge-watching shows and documentaries, and relaxing with her four-legged crew: Giga, a pitbull/Boston mix; Macee, the cat who rules the house; and the newest addition, Glitch, a mix of every bully breed under the sun.
Mel has volunteered with both Kansas Humane Society and Beauties and Beasts. Even though she never expected to work around dogs, she’s made herself right at home. She has a BFA in Interior Design from Fort Hays State University but decided to take a different path. We’re really glad she did.
