Kelly Spencer

Kelly Spencer owns Family Dog Training & Behavioral Center and is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. She’s also a supporting member of the IAABC, a certified evaluator for both Therapy Dogs International and the AKC Canine Good Citizen program, and a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers.

Before dedicating her life to dog training full-time, Kelly earned degrees in Early Childhood Education and Business. Her interest in dog behavior started back in 1998, when she was working through some tough challenges with her own dog. That experience got her hooked, and she began the journey toward becoming a certified trainer. Since 2008, she’s focused on helping dogs with more complex behavioral issues. After years of working at FDTC, Kelly was offered the chance to buy the business—and in 2020, she went for it. She also moved the center from Valley Center to its current home in southwest Wichita.

At home, she shares her life with two dogs: Domino, an Australian Shepherd who assists in the Reactive Dog Class (and enjoys herding everyones movement around the house), and Fergus, a goofy “Woolly Mammoth” who has recently begun to help by bringing his Fraggle Rock energy to the Reactive Dog Class.

Kelly teaches Basic Manners & Obedience, Reactive Dog (Tier I & II), AKC Canine Good Citizen, Therapy Dog Certification, and Leash Work Boot Camp classes as well as private lessons.
